GetMealo is an Indian home food ordering mobile app built in React Native — connecting people who want fresh homemade tiffins and breakfast with local home cooks and cloud kitchens. Akshar built the full backend using WordPress REST APIs, the consumer-facing Android and iOS app, and the brand website.
GetMealo is an Indian food tech platform solving a genuine everyday problem — people living away from home who crave fresh, hygienic, home-cooked meals but have no reliable way to find them. The app connects consumers with local home cooks, dabbawalas, and small tiffin services for daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner ordering.
Akshar was responsible for three core deliverables: a WordPress-powered backend serving all app data through custom REST APIs, a cross-platform React Native consumer app for Android and iOS, and the GetMealo brand website. The backend handled menu management, order placement and tracking, cook/vendor profiles, and delivery zone logic — all served via a clean API layer consumed by the mobile app.
The completed GetMealo platform gives home food providers a digital storefront and gives consumers a reliable channel to discover and order homemade meals near them — filling the gap between restaurant delivery apps and the informal home cook economy.

The client needed a backend manageable without a custom admin panel, so we architected WordPress as a headless CMS with custom post types, ACF fields, and extended REST API endpoints serving all menu, order, and vendor data to the React Native app.
WordPress's default REST API doesn't cover order management or delivery logic, so we built custom API endpoints handling order placement, status updates, menu availability, and cook profile queries — all consumed by the mobile app.
A single React Native codebase needed to perform natively on both Android and iOS across the range of mid-range Indian smartphones, requiring careful optimisation of list rendering, image loading, and navigation performance.
Home cooks are non-technical users who need to manage menus and availability daily, so we built a simple vendor management flow within the WordPress backend that the GetMealo team could use to onboard and manage cook profiles without developer involvement.
Home food availability is highly dynamic — menus change daily and items sell out quickly — so we built real-time menu availability management with item-level stock control surfaced through the API to the app.
Home cooks serve limited local areas, so we built location-based filtering that surfaced only cooks and menus available in the user's specific delivery zone — preventing orders to unreachable addresses.
